Association of German Foundations publishes annual figures for 2023 – establishing foundations remains as popular as ever
637 new foundations established in total in 2023. 2.1 percent growth to 25,777 foundations in Germany. Hamburg remains the federal state with the most foundations per capita – biggest relative growth seen in the states of Thuringia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saxony.

Number of German foundations exceeds 25,000 for the first time
693 foundations were established in Germany in 2022. A 2.5 percent increase, this brings the number of German foundations to 25,254.
