We represent the interests of nearly 19,000 foundations in Germany. With more than 3,800 members, which represent three quarters of foundation capital in Germany, we are the largest and oldest foundation association in Europe.

The Association has more than 40 members of staff working at its office in Berlin. The first non-profit association to receive the title "Association of the Year" (2008) is much in demand as employer.

Three awards are presented regularly by the Association of German Foundations. The "Medaille für Verdienste um das Stiftungswesen" (medal for outstanding services to the foundation sector), the "Deutscher Stifterpreis" (German funders prize) and the "KOMPASS" for exemplary communication work by a foundation.
